Our story
for the love of the game
Why we made Bam.
American Mah Jongg is a beautiful game. The clink of the tiles, the ritual of the Charleston, the card studied like scripture every spring — and most of all, the table itself: the same people, the same day, year after year.
The way we keep it, though, hasn’t been so beautiful. A paper scorecard that smudges and disappears into a tote bag. A group text where last week’s standings scroll away forever. A calculator app at the loveliest table in the house.
Bam is our answer: one place for the score, the hands, the standings, and the people — made with the care the game deserves. We drew every tile by hand. We gave the one bam its little sparrow. We kept the brass to a hairline and the colors to a porcelain cabinet. Nothing in Bam shouts, because nothing at your table should.
Our promise
An heirloom you’d be proud to set on the table — not another utility.
Bam started as a thank-you to the players who taught me the game — and to every group that’s kept a Tuesday sacred for twenty years. I hope it earns a seat at your table.
